Miami Police Department TRU Tactical Robbery Unit Florida

The Tactical Robbery Unit (TRU) is a high-stakes, specialized team within the Miami Police Department (MPD). They are tasked with hunting down the city's most violent offenders, specifically those involved in armed robberies and homicides. Key Operations & Tactics The TRU is known for being proactive rather than reactive. Their methods often include: Plainclothes & Unmarked Vehicles: To blend into neighborhoods and conduct surveillance without being spotted, they frequently use "nondescript" vehicles like minivans or rental cars. High-Risk Apprehensions: Because they deal with armed suspects, their arrests are often tactical and involve high-pressure "takedowns" to prevent suspects from fleeing or using weapons. Technology-Driven: They rely heavily on Miami's Real-Time Crime Center, using license plate readers and GPS data to track vehicles linked to recent crimes.
